Belleville, IL (May 2, 2008) - For the first time all season, Jared got to race on a Friday night, as the weather wasn't enough to rain it out this week. 20 Super Late Models showed up at Belle-Clair Speedway, and Jared drew the 5th starting spot in the 2nd Heat. Unfortunately, he wasn't quick enough out of the gate, and Jared quickly dropped back to 7th. For several laps he would follow Frankie Martin, but couldn't catch him. With 2 laps to go, it looked like he might be able to overtake the 6th place car, but the checkered flag would fly too soon. He finished the race in 7th, starting at the tail of the Feature.
The tail of the field was no place for the 28J, as his car was head and shoulders above the surrounding competition. For several laps the B1 car was a blockade, cutting Jared off at every line he tried. Finally able to get him out of the way, the #23 would do his best to bring out a caution, fishtailing down the backstretch. With nowhere to go, Jared had to slow up, allowing a couple of the lead cars to pass. Now a lap down, the caution would come out, creating a large hole to have to climb out of. At the return to green-flag racing, Jared held his lines, but the lead pack of cars would have to earn their way around. Jared raced hard, but couldn't make up the difference, placing him 18th at the finish. The 28J was a car that the leaders couldn't pull away from, and would have been able run up front with, but the poor starting position would prove to be too tough to overcome.
